National Basketball Association coach and former pro basketball player Moses Ehambe credits God for his most recent success with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Entering his fifth season with the team, he is an assistant coach and plays a key role in player development.

“Every season I’ve been here it seems like the Lord has taken us higher and higher,” Ehambe said during an interview in a recent episode of the Think Eternity with Matt Brown podcast (below).  “I honestly believe He’s going to take us even higher this season.”

Ehambe shared during the interview that his father is a pastor and that during his youth, he would receive encouragement and often a prophetic word from not only his father but his church’s congregation as well.

“It's always been spoken into my life that I was going to be in the NBA,” he said. “They would say, ‘The Lord's telling me that you'll be in the NBA’.”

What Ehambe said he didn’t know was that he would be in the NBA as a coach, not a player. He played collegiately at Oral Roberts University for four years and after going undrafted in 2008, Ehambe spent over a decade playing overseas.

He again heard a prophetic voice while attending a church in Russia while on tour with his team during his 11th season in the league. When the pastor at the church asked people to find someone to pray with, a woman that prayed with Ehambe said that God wanted to take him “up a staircase of levels so fast, but he can't do it unless [he] gives up what He's telling [him] immediately.

Ehambe made a decision, mutually with his wife, to leave the league and come back to the U.S. Through a quick progression of coaching jobs at the junior high and college levels he received a call to coach in the NBA.

“My journey was not me, it was the Lord and I’m so grateful for it,” he said.

When asked about how he incorporates his coaching skills when talking to others, Ehambe said he encourages people to elevate their lives as an "everyday athlete.”

He explains that it’s important to “strive to be the very best version of ourselves.” As an example, he suggests a daily morning routine that includes 20 minutes of physical activity, 20 minutes of mental activity like reading a book, studying and learning, and 20 minutes of spiritual work, such as praying, meditating, and reading God's word.
